Shatters Fahey’s 2001 record: STOTHERT CAMPAIGN RAISES $1.7 MILLION FOR RACE

Mayor Jean Stothert’s campaign has raised $1.7 million for her re-election effort, a level of financial support that shatters the previous record set by former Mayor Mike Fahey in his 2001 race.

Fahey raised $1.12 million that year, an amount Stothert has surpassed by $600,000.

Stothert’s campaign released a campaign finance report today covering the period of March 1—20. The campaign raised $100,890 and has $523,807 in cash-on-hand.

“I am very appreciative of the financial support I have received for our campaign,” Mayor Stothert said. “We have been raising funds on a sustained and planned basis for a number of years now and this allows us to avoid the last-minute scramble that other candidates face.”

Stothert’s campaign has received contributions from 1,230 small donors since finance efforts began in late May 2013.

By comparison, over one-half of the $136,775 in itemized donations reported by the Heath Mello campaign earlier this month came from just seven well-heeled donors.

The primary is April 4, one week from today.
