The Greater Omaha Chamber Political Action Committee has announced their support of Mayor Jean Stothert.
The PAC’s treasurer, Jennifer Creager, outlined the support in a letter to Stothert’s campaign:
“As you are aware, the Chamber has a strong and vibrant partnership with the City on issues of economic development, urban renewal, community development and talent attraction. In addition, the City exercises significant influence over business investment and regulatory issues, and the Chamber has appreciated your commitment to these and other critical elements of our business environment.”
Commenting on the support, Mayor Stothert said:
“I appeared before the chamber PAC and leadership and personally addressed their many questions. It is gratifying and an honor to have earned the chamber PAC’s sole support for my re-election efforts this spring. Our work on economic and job development opportunities has helped add 12,000 jobs in Omaha since I was first elected mayor. I am proud to call Omaha business our teammate in this work and I look forward to our strong partnership in the years ahead.”
The chamber’s political action committee assists candidates for state and local offices who best reflect the needs of Greater Omaha’s business community. The PAC is funded entirely by voluntary contributions from chamber members.
The PAC’s support will include a financial contribution.
